それでも、その話を聴いた時はショックだった

それで、彼の写真を注文し、それが届くのを待った
写真は、はるばるテキサスから送られてきた

見知らぬ人が現れ、ボクにたずねた
「ジョン・レノンが死んだって、知ってるかい」

僕らはこのバーに入って、店が閉まるまで過ごした
そして、「偉大なる（故）ジョニーエース」に捧げる歌を
歌い続けた。(ジョン・レノン１９８０年死亡)

この曲といえば、セントラル・パークでのコンサートで演奏中に、暴漢が
Paulに襲い掛かろうとして取り押さえられたのが印象に残っています。
Paulも一瞬ビクッとして、不安な目をしていましたが、数秒の空白の後
何事も無かったかのように演奏を終えました。
死亡したジョニー・エース、ジョン・レノン、そしてビートルズ、ストーンズと
いったかつて一時代を築いたグループの実名を出しながら、その死を知ら
された驚きや悲しみを歌っているようです。
